Expanding Early Education
Rockcastle County Schools officially launched the 'Little Rocket Learners' program this year, a two-year pilot initiative designed to provide all-day preschool access to local families. The program aims to bridge the gap in early childhood development by offering a more comprehensive learning environment for the district's youngest students.
Program Benefits
District officials emphasize that the all-day format provides significant advantages, including improved kindergarten readiness, enhanced social skill development, and a stronger foundation in early literacy. By extending the school day, the district hopes to provide more consistent support for working families while fostering hands-on learning experiences.
Enrollment Details
Eligibility for the program is open to all children who turned four years old by August 1. Registration and screening processes were conducted at Mount Vernon Elementary, Brodhead Elementary, and Roundstone Elementary. Parents interested in the program are encouraged to contact their local elementary school to inquire about ongoing enrollment opportunities and future phases of the pilot.
