A Solemn Remembrance
On the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the Mount Vernon City School District took time to honor the memory of those lost. The district organized a special initiative to pay tribute to the victims and first responders of that day.
Beautification Efforts
Students and staff participated in a beautification project, planting flowers around the flag poles at all district buildings. This act served as a visual reminder of the community's respect and remembrance of the historic tragedy.
Teaching History
For many students, the events of 9/11 are a part of history they learn about in the classroom. By engaging in this commemorative activity, the district provided a tangible way for the younger generation to connect with the significance of the day and the importance of national unity.
